Message from our Board President
A lot happens in 50 years. And through the years Camden County OEO has experienced changes and new growth in the agency’s personnel, programs and services as well as in the facilities that we provide life changing support to our valued clients. In 2016, our Community Action Agency proudly celebrated its 50th anniversary of strengthening individuals and families in Camden County to achieve self-sufficiency.
Celebrating 50 Years
Also in 2016, we were showered with messages of congratulations--ranging from our clients to local and state elected officials to The President of the United States of America Barack Obama, whom I especially want to thank for his two terms in office and outstanding leadership of our nation.
Leadership of Camden County OEO and the Story of Us
Camden County OEO is very fortunate to have the dedicated leadership of the women and men of the Board of Directors, our industrious and creative administrative staff, and our loyal and visionary Executive Director Arnold Byrd.
Unsung Team
I also must pay tribute to a segment of our agency that works often behind the scene to keep us constantly afloat and fiscally vibrant. Our Administrative and Finance team, consistent with their financial and managerial responsibilities, have allowed Camden County OEO to remain true to our programs’ mission, vision and goals.
The Road Ahead
Someone much wiser than me and more eloquent than me once said that there might be difficult days ahead – in our community, nation, and world. But as for me, I have the time-tested faith of the true believers. The road ahead might get bumpy in places, but I believe that as we remain true to our cause, ideals and spirit of helping one another, we will overcome whatever comes our way. We will also succeed far beyond our most inventive imagination. My personal GPS indicates that Camden County Council On Economic Opportunity, Inc. is driven to succeed in lifting thousands more individuals and families out of their socio-economic plight and into the road of sustainable self-sufficiency.
I encourage you to become more familiar with the Mission Statement of Camden County OEO. Thank you for your support and for all that you do for Camden County OEO and our clients.
